Moustafa Mahmoud Elhamshary

A good man, and brilliant scientist

Moustafa Elhamshary was an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Engineering and Automatic Control, Faculty of Engineering, Tanta University. He was born in 1982 in Egypt. In 2004, he recieved his BS.c. from Tanta University in Computer Engineering with overall grade "distinction with honors". He obtained his M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Tanta University in 2014. In 2017, he recieved his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from Egypt Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST). From 2015- to 2017 he was a fellow researcher at Osaka University.

Through his career, Moustafa did outstanding research in the area of mobile computing, mobile sensing, and information retrieval. He authored several research articles in top ranked conferences, and he has a US-patent invention. On March 21, 2018, Moustafa passed away while attending the IEEE Pervasive Computing Conference (PerCom 2018), only a few hours after delivering a great presentation of his paper "CrowdMeter" .

Moustafa is a father for two beautiful kids: Ahmed and Aycil.
